Having recently configured MFA for some of our users, I’ve started using the Microsoft Authenticator app on my iPhone and Apple Watch with my work account (I’ve been using it for my personal Microsoft account for a while).
If you are interested in the watch version you can sign up for Microsoft’s Testflight public preview version (although it does seem that the preview programme is closed for now).
One thing that tripped me up was in the ‘Additional security verification’ settings in Office 365. I was wondering why my personal Microsoft account would allow me to ‘tap to approve’ and use TouchID within the app but my work account would ask for a code.
I then realised that the drop down was set to ‘Use verification code from app’ and it should be set to ‘Notify me through app’ for TouchID verification. The options are a bit confusing and ‘Notify me’ should perhaps be reworded.

I thought I would create a quick post just in case anyone else is experiencing the same issue and wondered why.
If you’re not already using the MS Authenticator app and have MFA enabled for your org – go check it out! It’s brilliant and makes the login process much smoother – no more texts to my phone or re-entering passwords :-).
The next step for us is to implement password-less sign in which I’m pretty excited about!
